20 Polished Stones from Kakanui, Part Two

In a previous Post, I showed photos of ten recently polished stones which originated from beaches around Kakanui, near Oamaru in the South Island of New Zealand. Here are another ten, many of them quartzites. The photo sets show both sides of each stone as well as a detail from each side.

The first two are predominantly grey stones but with very different patterning, both probably being quartzites:

Here are two quartzites, of different colour and composition:

Two quartzites of subdued colouring:

The first of the next two stones is probably an unusual jasper (due to its deep colour) while the second is probably petrified wood with a brittle make-up that has not polished well:

Finally, the ninetenth and twentieth stones are total contrasts in pattern. The former is fractured white and greys, the latter is a uniform fine-grained white with miniscule dark specks:
