Southern Sojourn 2023(4): First Fossick at Gemstone Beach, Sunday 22 January

I arrived yesterday at my new base in Riverton Aparima. The fossicking I did on my trip south is covered in Posts starting with this one. This morning, Tracey Kidd and I spent two and a half hours fossicking on Gemstone Beach.

One particular stone I found stood out due to its bright colours.

However, this red amygdaloidal stone rivals it for attractiveness.

A small hematite orbicular jasper, also known as a poppy jasper, was another of today’s outstanding finds.
